Welcome to the Performance Measures for Virginia Governments Web site.  This site is made possible by a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and developed and maintained by the Governmental & Nonprofit Assistance Center  at Radford University.
The purpose of this site is to provide a central location for obtaining and comparing financial and non-financial performance data for local Virginia municipalities. All of the information on this site is public information which is readily available from numerous sources, including the internet. Data from the most recent years available is used, and the site will be updated annually as new data becomes available.  Information on the various sources of data used is listed under the Site Information link on the left.

The site contains data for most of the counties and cities in Virginia. Each county and city was contacted and asked permission to display their information.  Only governments that gave permission are displayed on this site.

This site provides citizens, governmental officials, and others interested in the performance of their local governments a central location and convenient way to access data and make meaningful comparisons among local governments

Information on eight non-financial performance measures is available.  The eight areas are:

  • Community Development
  • Education
  • General Government
  • Health & Welfare
  • Judicial
  • Parks, Recreation & Cultural
  • Public Safety
  • Public Works

A description of each performance measure is available by following the links on the left menu.
